PATIENT CARE LAUNCHES CONSUMERISM DEPARTMENT
Increased consumer demand for transparency of health care cost and quality information

MILWAUKEE (November 16, 2009) – Patient Care (www.patientcare4u.com), the nation’s leading advocacy company, is responding to the market’s demand for transparency by launching a Consumerism Department. “In just the first eight months of this year, our requests for cost and quality information have increased 257 percent,” said Jane Cooper, Patient Care’s President and CEO. “Due to the increased demand, we’ve created a dedicated team to service the growing number of these requests.”

The new department will be headed by Kevin Lindbergh, who has been with Patient Care for two years, most recently serving as Account Manager.  His team of Cost & Quality Specialists will be responsible for helping Patient Care members become better health care consumers.  The Specialists routinely provide cost and quality reports to members, helping them make an informed decision about where to go for their care, especially when it involves out-of-pocket expenses.

“Patient Care helps its members navigate through the health care system and become better health care consumers,” explained Cooper. “I think this shows we’re fulfilling that mission.  I couldn’t be more pleased that more of our members want to be informed consumers of health care.  It’s why we’re here,” she said. “We give our members transparency they can’t find anywhere else in the industry.  More than any website or database can provide, our Specialists are contacting providers and insurers to get the specific costs for our members.  Everything is tailored to their requests.”

Headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Patient Care is a national advocacy company that helps employees navigate the health care system and become better health care consumers.  Clients include Assurant Health, Harley-Davidson Motor Company, Briggs & Stratton and Regency Hospital Company.  For more information, visit www.patientcare4u.com, or call 414-271-1790.
